APS and ISPAD
The APS is extremely proud to align with the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and we encourage our members managing T1D to become ISPAD members.
ISPAD guidelines are world best practice. Management strategies between Australian metropolitan hospitals may vary from recommended in ISPAD guidelines. By following ISPAD standards, many regional Australian centres now have patient outcome data that matches the leading centres in the world.
However, many other regional Australian centres lack support, resources, professional development, and basic assistance such as Point of Care HA1c availability. Those centres have outcomes that lag well behind acceptable standards.
The voice of rural child health to improve the outcomes for those children has never been more necessary.
