Technology and Diabetes
The APS recognises the rapid growth and expansion of technology-based innovations for T1D, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.
For many regional teams, it can be very difficult to maintain knowledge and skills.
Accordingly, the APS has become very proactive in trying to implement skill building and data collection/audit for regional diabetes teams and professional support.
APS supports a view that all Australians with Type 1 diabetes, regardless of age, should have subsidised access to Continuous Glucose Monitors and insulin pumps. APS advocates for adequate support for all diabetes teams to educate and train on the best practice use of those devices.
