Type 1 Diabetes in Early Childhood Education and Care: A National Parent Survey

The Australian Paediatric Society (APS), with the support of the Type 1 Foundation and the National Type 1 Diabetes Council, is conducting a national survey of parents and carers of children with Type 1 Diabetes who are currently attending, or have attended during 2024 or 2025, an Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) service in Australia.

ECEC services include childcare, long day care, family day care, kindergarten, preschool and early learning centres.

This survey builds on our 2025 pilot study, APS advocacy to the Senate Inquiry into the Quality and Safety of Early Childhood Education and Care, and the Inquiry's recommendations relating to children with Type 1 Diabetes.

We would be grateful if your diabetes service could share the survey with eligible families. The findings will help inform future advocacy, policy development and service improvements aimed at improving the safety, inclusion and participation of children with Type 1 Diabetes in ECEC settings.
